Treatments like dental implants, orthodontics, veneers can make a big difference even to teeth that are badly crooked, heavily discoloured, or even missing altogether. This is good news for those that need these improvements but what about people who are more or less happy with their smile but have a few minor issues they would like correcting to improve their teeth just a little bit more?

There are a number of procedures available today that can be used for this purpose which we have at Blue Sky Dental and we are going to take a look at these in today’s blog. As always, we are available to discuss anything mentioned here or if you feel you have an issue not covered in today’s topic, why not give our Chelmsford dental practice a call to discuss it with us?

Teeth whitening

The teeth whitening procedure can be used for significantly improving the colour of some stained and discoloured teeth as long as it is not too severe. Where staining is more significant such as in the case of teeth stained by smoking, veneers may need to be used instead. People sometimes think of teeth whitening as producing a dazzling whiteness, not understanding that the treatment can be adjusted to smaller levels of whiteness if the patient wishes. This is ideal for someone who doesn’t necessarily want to ‘show off their teeth‘ but would like them a shade or two whiter just to freshen them up a little. It is a non-invasive treatment which is affordable for many so if you are in this situation, why not give us a call to discuss this further.

Cosmetic bonding

Cosmetic bonding is excellent for minor repairs and adjustments. No anaesthetic is usually required as this is a non-invasive treatment. Essentially, the bonding is a material made from a resin like material and can be moulded into shape before being hardened using a special light. It is an excellent way of restoring small chips and cracks that have appeared on the teeth. These may be insignificant as far as the health of the tooth is concerned but can affect the appearance. It can also be used to reshape teeth and also close small gaps between the teeth to improve your smile.

Hygienist service

It might seem strange to include the hygienist here as their role is largely about the prevention of gum disease, but the scale and polish procedure that they carry out removes tartar and some staining materials from the front of the teeth as well as elsewhere. In many cases, this will improve the colour of the teeth as well. As it is beneficial for the teeth and gums to have this procedure, some of our local dental patients who are looking to improve their smile opt for this first before deciding whether a teeth whitening procedure is needed in addition to give them the whiteness they hope for.

Wrinkle reduction treatments

If you are looking to improve your smile, you obviously take pride in the way that you look. Why not then, also see how we can help to erase or reduce some of those lines and wrinkles that often appear on our faces as we grow further away from our teenage years? The anti-wrinkle treatments that we offer our Chelmsford patients can give you a more youthful looking skin and the dermal fillers can fill out parts of our face that tend to thin as we lose collagen with age. The lips are one of the most popular areas but our facial aesthetic clinicians will be able to discuss any area of your face and neck where you would like to see improvements.

As you can see then, smile improvements don’t have to require lengthy or invasive treatments for some patients. A few small adjustments and improvements using the treatments above can be very effective indeed. If you would like to discuss your smile with us to see how we can help you, why not book a no obligation initial consultation at our Essex dental clinic for advice and so that we can answer any questions that you might have. If you would like to do this, please call Blue Sky Dental today on 01245 211070. We look forward to helping you become even more proud of your smile.

Sometimes, just small changes can make a big difference to your smile.
