Teeth Straightening Without The Discomfort
Wireless dental braces available at our Chelmsford dental practice.
Ask most people to describe dental braces and they will tell you that they are ugly metal things that show up when you smile. Whilst this certainly used to be the case, and can still be for some people; it doesn’t have to be this way.
Even dental braces which still use wiring, such as Cfast braces, now use much finer wires and smaller brackets, both provided in natural tooth colours to match your own.
Not all orthodontics do use this system though and, for some time, we have been supplying patients who wished to have straighter teeth, with Invisalign orthodontics at our practice.
What are they?
Unlike regular dental braces, Invisalign uses no wires or brackets and, instead, uses a system of a number of transparent trays which fit directly over the teeth. This offers many advantages to the patient, not least of which is comfort. Many of our Chelmsford patients who have had teeth straightened using Invisalign expressed surprise at how comfortable they felt. Whilst it wasn’t unusual for them to feel a little strange for the first few days, most patients said that it was easy to forget that they were wearing them once they got used to the sensation.
If this was the only benefit of this system, that in itself would be a positive thing, but Invisalign offers much more. In addition to the comfort factor, they are also excellent for keeping your mouth healthy too. Designed to be removed when eating or whilst brushing your teeth, keeping your mouth healthy and clean when using braces is no longer a difficult task. All you need to do is to clean your teeth and use dental floss or an inter-dental brush as you currently do.
As if these two factors weren’t benefit enough, Invisalign, as the name hints at, are virtually invisible. Made from a high grade medical transparent plastic material, few people will even notice that you are wearing them, unless of course, you opt to tell them that you are. With this revolutionary system, having your teeth straightened needn’t be the uncomfortable and embarrassing experience that it has been for many people in the past. You can wear your trays to work or even when out socialising. If you are going out for a meal, simply remove the trays somewhere discreet, before your meal and pop them back in afterwards.
Remember when cleaning your teeth, to make sure that your trays are also clean before you return them to your mouth. That way, the risk of dental decay or gum disease is minimised even further.
