Clear Braces For A Pleasing Teeth Straightening Experience
Orthodontic treatment with convenient and comfortable aligners.
Perhaps the longest dental treatment to complete is straightening of teeth.
Naturally, it is important not to put excessive pressure on teeth to correct their position as this could cause irreparable damage, but this often means that the patient will need to wear their braces for a year or more. This is a factor which probably deters quite a number of people from wearing them.
Whilst there are some orthodontics, such as Cfast, which are designed to correct minor issues with the front teeth, and which can complete the treatment in a much shorter time; where more significant correction is needed with a wider range of teeth, these are usually not suitable and longer term orthodontics are needed.
Convenient orthodontics for our Chelmsford patients
The inconvenience of having to wear uncomfortable braces for a year or more is enough to put many people off having the treatment. Thankfully, there are now orthodontic systems available which, at the very least, minimise the discomfort and inconvenience of wearing braces. At Blue Sky Dental, we offer one of these systems in the form of Invisalign.
What is Invisalign?
Instead of the traditional use of wires and brackets to reposition the teeth, Invisalign instead uses a series of transparent ‘trays’ which are placed directly over the teeth. Each of these trays exerts gentle pressure on the misaligned teeth, gradually coaxing them towards their desired final position. After a period of time, the first tray is removed and replaced by the second tray which continues the work. This continues until the teeth are straight and even again.
Patients of Blue Sky Dental who have used this system have found it to be comfortable to wear. Initially, perhaps, it may feel a little strange, but once accustomed to the feel of this new object in the mouth, most patients experience few, if any, problems at all.
In addition to its comfort, Invisalign offers a very convenient way of straightening teeth. Unlike regular braces, which are not easily removable, the patient can simply remove the trays whilst they are eating and for cleaning and flossing their teeth. This makes mealtimes much more straightforward and also enables efficient cleaning of the teeth. You should also remember to clean the trays before returning them to your teeth as they may contain residual materials that could be harmful to your gums.
