The Uses of Botox and Dermal Fillers
Our Chelmsford cosmetic dentist explains the difference in these procedures.
To help some patients who are interested in our facial aesthetic treatments but who may be unclear about what each different treatment can be used for; our experienced practitioner explains:
Q. Hi … I’ve started to notice a few lines and wrinkles appearing on my face which are beginning to make me look a little older. These are generally lines around the eyes and the corner of my mouth. I think my lips are also starting to thin just a little but I’m not sure if I need to do anything about those or not right now. Can you explain whether Botox or dermal fillers would be the best treatment for me please as I’m a little confused about what each of these do.
Hi, and thanks for your question. You are not the first patient to be confused about these treatments. Whilst most patients have heard of Botox, they are usually less aware of the role that dermal fillers play in creating a younger looking skin.
Our Chelmsford facial aesthetics team will be pleased to see you to discuss the most appropriate treatments for your needs, but, from your description, it would appear that Botox treatment is the more likely option for you. This treatment is highly effective when treating ‘crow’s feet’ which are the wrinkles in the corners of the eyes. Botox works by blocking nerve signals to the muscles which causes the wrinkles to relax and become smoother. Performed by a qualified practitioner, like those at Blue Sky Dental, this procedure can help to make you look younger in a short period of time.
You also mention the problem of thinning lips. I can assure you that no member of our team will put any pressure on you to have treatment should you decide that it is not necessary at this moment in time. You can always come back at any time that you change your mind. Should you decide to have your lips plumped, either now or in the future, dermal fillers would be used for this. These injections replace the natural collagen in your skin which has become lost over the years, giving your lips a fuller appearance.
Both of these treatments are administered through a very fine needle just under the surface of the skin. A little light bruising may occur immediately after the treatment, but should disappear soon after. Here at our Chelmsford practice, we are aware of the importance of these procedures for those who wish to have them, and have assembled an experienced facial aesthetics team to ensure that you receive expert advice and care when you come to Blue Sky Dental.
