The Ultimate in Teeth Whitening
Brightening your smile
The easiest way to improve the appearance of your teeth is to brighten them. Having white teeth not only makes us look younger but is also a huge boost to our confidence. Teeth Whitening is the easiest and quickest way to do this.
What happens first?
Before we even consider carrying out any cosmetic dental treatment we always make sure your teeth are healthy. The dentist will examine your teeth making sure you are a suitable candidate for whitening. After all you wouldn’t build a house on unsteady foundations, therefore we wouldn’t carry out treatment on unhealthy teeth.
The system we use here at Blue Sky Dental relies on custom made trays. Impressions are taken of your teeth to ensure that the trays we make fit your mouth precisely. As we make all our whitening trays in house you will be ready to start your treatment within a few days. We use a range of systems here at the practice and the type we give you to use depends on different factors, such as if you have highly sensitive teeth.
A small amount of gel is applied to the trays which are then worn for between 2-4 hours a day (depending on which gels are given). The trays are then rinsed and stored out of direct sun light ready for the next treatment session (sun light or heat can distort the trays and they may no longer fit your teeth). This is carried out over a period of approximately 10-14 days . Some patients are lucky enough to reach their maximum shade change within 7 days whereas others take a little longer. Its difficult to tell the whitening result or how long it will take as each patient reacts differently to treatment.
If you are expecting a brilliant white Hollywood look then tooth whitening may not be the best option for you. However there is a new gel available that we use at our practice in Essex which guarantees a B1 shade – the Hollywood white. The manufacturers are so confident with their system that they promise a full refund if the shade isn’t achieved. There are certain advantages and disadvantages to the treatment which the dentist will discuss with you, and the system is not suitable for everyone. Upon examination the dentist will advise the best system for you.
Will it whiten my crowns?
Unfortunately all the whitening systems we offer has no effect on crowns, veneers, bridges or white fillings. You can still have the treatment but any prosthetic or white filling will need to be changed in the future.
If you are considering having teeth whitening treatment then always have this carried out by a dental professional. Never have the treatment in beauty clinics (unless carried out by a dentist) or whitening booths found in shopping centres. For professional advice call Blue Sky Dental today 01245 211070.
